50 Shades of Music & Video
Music to Enhance a BDSM Scene
Along with one or two others I have read E L James’ novel Fifty Shades of Grey and one thing which struck me is the music mentioned in the books. Well, there had to be something interesting!
Very few of us like to play in silence and find music can really enhance the atmosphere – so what’s your favourite scene music? Is it a list of favourite tracks you’ve compiled yourself or do you have an album which you play on repeat whilst your Master or Mistress plays with your body? Does the music help you to subspace?
I thought I’d include a list of the music in Fifty Shades (just in case you’ve been able to resist its lure) as well as a few other tracks I really enjoy.
Music from 50 Shades of Grey:
Lakmé (Act I): Flower Duet – Alain Lombard
Sex on fire – Kings of Leon
Adagio from Concerto No 3 in D Minor, BWV 974 – James Rhodes
Misfit – Amy Studt
The Lightning Strike – Snow Patrol
I’m on Fire – Bruce Springsteen
Bachianas Brasilerias No. 5 Aria (Cantilena) – Heitor Villa-Lobo
Witchcraft – Frank Sinatra
La Traviata, Prelude – Italian Wedding Music
Toxic – Britney Spears
The Blower’s Daughter – Damien Rice
Canon and Gigue in D Major – Pachelbel:
Spem in Alium – Thomas Tallis (nothing to do with garlic, apparently! Not a lot to do with music, either!)
24 Préludes, Op. 28, No. 4 in E Minor: Largo – Chopin
A few of my personal favourites for bondage scenes:
Massive Attack – Heat Miser (have a listen to this on our Tumblr)
Massive Attack – Angel
The Velvet Underground – Venus in Furs
Suzanne Vega – Caramel
Dante Alighieri & Partick Cassidy – Vide Cor Meum (Hannibal Motion Picture Soundtrack, the Opera Scene)
Post a comment with some of your favourites and let us share your enjoyment. Or perhaps have a listen to the above and let me know what you think – would they complement your scenes? What about afterwards when cuddling together?
And if you know the music that accompanies the flogging scene in above video please let me know. I’d love to own this piece, if only I knew what is was. I wouldn’t say no to a nice flogging either ;~)
